The early years: the importance of an educational foundation

BUILDING A SOLID EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION in the early years of a child’s life is not only important, it’s necessary. More and more, families are recognizing the value of early childhood education as a springboard for their children’s overall success in school and life.

A Walk in the Park - Old times in Cades Cove

ONE OF OUR FAVORITE SHORT TRIPS of a couple weeks or so is a loop through Great Smoky Mountains National Park, up the Blue Ridge Parkway to Shenandoah NP, and home via West Virginia and Maryland. Or vice versa. For either fall color or spring wildflowers, it is a simply stunning excursion.

SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ME the other day… As I was taking my grandson to a doctor’s appointment, I was rushed and harried. His mother had called me at the last minute, and my stress levels were high. My face wore a permanent frown. My mind was in a million different places.

Scraping the moss off my garden journal

WE MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE in South Toledo on September 5, 1975. Of course, we’ve made a number of changes in 46 years, both inside and out. We added a family room and a deck, remodeled the kitchen and bath, painted the outside a different color, and replaced the windows.
