About Us

Healthy Living News was founded in October of 1996 with the mission of providing the residents
of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan reliable, authoritative, locally written news that helps
improve their health and well-being. In August of 2019, ownership of HLN was transferred from
original publisher Kevin O’Connell to Welch Publishing Co. The new owners, Chet and Adam
Welch, have continued to build upon HLN’s success and reach while staying true to the
publication’s mission.

Consistently the largest monthly publication of any kind in the region, the print version of HLN
now has over 60,000 monthly readers, and the recently redesigned hlntoledo.com currently
attracts 20,000 new views each month.

Key to the publication's enduring success is its exceptional mix of high quality, locally written
news content, which includes articles on current trends and advances in our local healthcare
community, food and nutrition, exercise and fitness, spiritual and emotional health, and much,
much more.

All of our contributing writers and interview subjects are from the local area and represent a
broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise. We’re very proud to count among them
organizations such as Mercy Health, The University of Toledo Medical Center, The Toledo
Clinic, Northwest Ohio Hearing Clinic, Dave’s Running Shop, The Gardens of St. Francis,
ABLE Law, Citizen Advisory Group, The Willow Center, Cancer Connection of Northwest
Ohio, Life Connection of Ohio, the Sisters of St. Francis, TriggerPoint, and the Elizabeth Scott
Community.

HLN is a free publication distributed through well over 1,300 outlets in our region, including all
hospitals, all area physician offices, The Toledo Clinic, the University of Toledo Medical Center,
Toledo Public Libraries, Toledo YMCAs, Bassett’s, Sautter’s, Churchill’s, Rudy’s, Toledo
Express Airport, all area book stores, all area health clubs and clinics, and many others.
Our dedicated distribution team continuously restocks key locations throughout the month so
readers never have to search for an issue and advertisers are provided a tremendous value for
their marketing dollar. While our target audience is the key 35- to 50-year-old demographic, the
broad spectrum of topics we cover each month appeals to readers of all ages.

Thank you for your interest in HLN! Please let us know by email or phone if you have any
questions about the publication or if we can improve our service in any way. We look forward to
serving this great community for many years to come!
