ASYOUDECIDE which road to travel in the years to come, the path you choose for yourself and loved ones is very important. At St. Clare Commons, we open our doors to share insights into the heart of our community and the families who call it home.

For many, the essence of family is in being together, cherishing shared moments, whether over dinners, outings, or communal activities such as church services or happy hours. Recognizing diverse needs, we provide different levels of care, always striving to support families and their relationships. Most importantly, we strive to help families continue to live together.

Our residents and their families express their love for each other and St. Clare Commons in various ways. These are their stories they wanted to share with you: Assisted-Living couple Patrick and Marcie McCabe have called St. Clare Commons home for two years, residing in a spacious two-bedroom apartment in our Assisted-Living Community. They enjoy living life together. They’ve transformed their second bedroom into a craft room/office with lots of storage space including a walk-in closet. They love their chats and visitors, and embrace their time together in the community. Their passion is their love for Jesus and the Church. A few times a week, you will find them in the St. Clare Commons chapel encouraging residents.

Transitional-Care couples Several couples have resided at St. Clare Commons for many years. One in particular comes by my office daily and brings a smile to my face. When they arrived here at St. Clare Commons, the couple received therapy services. The husband improved quickly and recently moved down the hall into our Assisted-Living Community instead of heading home. Why? He shared that he preferred to be closer to his wife. He is such a gentleman and the kindest soul. His family loves that they are together under one roof where they see each other every day and continue their routines. At this time, his wife is receiving therapy and loving care in our Skilled Nursing. Throughout the day, he’ll walk past my office, wave, and say “hi” on the way to see his sweetheart.

Another couple comes to mind as well. The husband spends most of his day on her hall, eating meals with her and chatting with war buddies, “jammin’ to Ragtime Rick,” or playing cards while she keeps a watchful eye on him. She is facing memory difficulties, so they’ve decided to transition her to our Memory-Care Community. He wanted to ensure he will be closer to her, so he will be joining her in this transition. They have visited their new rooms and will start decorating soon. Our Memory-Care Community is unique. Residents and families are included completely in our campus activities and events. They will continue to have their same friends, visits, and campus activities.

Memory Care/Therapy son and mom Recently, a family came to me in regards to their mother who needed more assistance than they were able to provide in her home. She is having memory loss, and her son is unable to care for her needs as well as he used to. We were happy to welcome her to St. Clare Commons, and she resides in our Memory-Care Community. She joins in on our campus activities and Cardio Drumming.

Her son, Richie Phalen, visits daily and joins us for lunch. You can see her enjoying chats with new friends and staff. He has found peace knowing his mother is well cared for and transitioned easily, especially as he prepares for his own therapy following surgery. The family is overjoyed that we have preplanned his admission to St. Clare Commons. He will be able to do his therapy while in our Skilled Nursing and visit his mom down the hall daily, or vice versa with staff oversight.

Every family’s life journey is unique. We love to assist them in any way to live life together and make memories. St. Clare Commons Campus is a home, with our enthusiastic, loving, and compassionate director and staff team.

We care with listening, empathy, and love. We accompany and comfort those in need of healing. We celebrate each person’s gifts and voice. We respect the dignity of all. We do activities that are tailored to our residents’ interests. We accommodate your family’s transitioning goals or services needed and wanted. We are here to help you find joy and build memories.
