ENCOURAGING INVOLVEMENT THROUGH MEANINGFULAND HANDS-ON VOLUNTEERING.
Lucas SWCD invites community members of all ages and abilities to become involved with the agency’s mission through volunteering on the Green Team.
As a small, governmental agency with big ideas, volunteers are instrumental in the success and forward progress of the Lucas SWCD.
Volunteer opportunities include helping in the office gardens and greenspace throughout the year, caring for the office turtles, preparing for education programs, events and workshops, and assisting with special events.
Anyone interested in volunteering or learning more about the Green Team is encouraged to visit lucasswcd. org/volunteer to submit an interest form or contact the office at 419-893-1966.
Volunteer opportunities are primarily held Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., however, accommodations can be made based on the volunteer’s availability.
The volunteers can expect to commit one and one-half to two hours during their visit. Lucas SWCD will provide water and snacks.
One of the areas with the most need for help is with the demonstration gardens and greenspace.
The office is located in central Toledo at 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, and serves as a natural oasis and space for the public to visit and learn about conservation practices.
Volunteers will assist with seed starting, planting, garden maintenance, harvesting, bed preparation, soil amendments and more.
“If you are someone who enjoys working in the garden, we hope you will consider volunteering with Lucas SWCD as a member of the Green Team! Please contact our office or visit our website to sign up,” said Jessica Grisier, with Lucas SWCD.
