Also known as herpes zoster, the name alone scares people. However, if Dr. Handler diagnoses and treats shingles early, the incidence of his patients developing pain after the outbreak is less than 1%. If you do develop PHN (postherpetic neuralgia—chronic pain from shingles), there is help without pills and their inherent side effects.
