Dear Readers, June quickly came around the corner, splashing right into summer fun. Thank you for taking the time to pick up and read June's issue of

I hope you take every moment to soak up the summer and read up on recent health information. This way, you and your family are well-informed for the summer.

This month, we recognize National Men’s Health Awareness Month. Dennis Bova, page 4, says that Men's Health Month is a call to action. When men follow up with a doctor, they do much better. Men need to have health screenings and should focus on the essentials: exercise, sleep, nutrition and diet to maintain health.

Now that the weather has finally come around, we can’t forget to bring a water bottle when going outside to stay hydrated. Contributing writer Laurie Syring, on page 6, says National Hydration Day is June 23. She highlights the importance of drinking enough fluids to stay healthy and safe. She explores the best water tips and how much water intake you need to stay hydrated.

Contributing writer, Sister Karen Zielinski, asks an important question: Why does my doctor make me choose my medication? Doctors can give their patients some freedom to do research to make the best-informed treatment decision. Zielinski gives the reason why a doctor would allow patients to choose their medication, page 11.

This edition covers topics on relationships, including an article by Daniel Jachimiak that discusses seven fun interest groups you could join to build lasting relationships (page 13). Joining a group could be a way to foster connection, have fun and encourage teamwork.

At St. Clare Commons, Ashley Edwards shares that they are welcoming two additional members to their leadership team (page 19). Please join in welcoming the new members to the St. Clare Commons family.

Lastly, Becca Roberts invites anyone single, married or navigating relationships to page 8, Negotiation: be good at dating. This is for anyone navigating the dating world or who wants to hear more about communicating in any relationship, whether married or single.

More to be found in this issue covering National Men’s Health Month, ways to stay healthy and hydrated over the summer, financial tips, staying active, tips for healthy hair, events over the summer, including the 60th annual art festival at the Toledo Botanical Garden and much more.
