No Greater Gift— Life Connection of Ohio’s aftercare program helps donor families along their grief journeys

LIFE CONNECTION OF OHIO IS PROUD TO OFFER AN AFTERCARE PROGRAM for donor families whose loved ones have given the gift of life through organ donation. The program includes bereavement support and opportunities for donor families to honor their loved one’s lifesaving legacy. After the 15-month program concludes, donor families are encouraged to join Life Connection of Ohio’s volunteer family for continuous support.

THE STRESS OF facing a serious illness like cancer is often compounded by the uncertainty of what life might look like during and even after treatment. “Cancer treatment can be difficult. There are often side effects while someone is being treated, and there are a lot of lasting effects from cancer, even after someone has been declared cancer-free,” said Alison Matson, a physical therapist and director of Therapy Services at The University of Toledo Medical Center.

APRIL IS NATIONAL DONATE LIFE MONTH, a time to spread the word about the importance of saying “yes” to saving lives through organ donation! In celebration of the annual observance, Life Connection of Ohio, the nonprofit organization that serves families and saves lives through organ donation, is partnering with WTOL 11 for the 14th annual Donate Life Sit-in. During this 24-hour event, set for Tuesday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m.– Wednesday, April 17, at 9:00 a.m., transplant recipients, donor family members, and supporters will take a seat to take a stand on the importance of organ donation in Life Connection of Ohio’s Green Chair.
