THE TOLEDO ARTIST CLUB AND GALLERY will host the 60th Annual Fine Arts Festival at the Toledo Botanical Garden, 5403 Elmer Drive, Toledo, Saturday and Sunday, June 27 and 28.
“The Toledo Artist Club and Gallery is returning to its roots,” said Club President Paul Lyon. The event will host more than 175 artists.
“The club wants this year's show to focus on local and regional artists and this is why we are returning to its original name, The Toledo Festival of the Arts.”
The club will be hosting historical retrospective works presented in the gallery by local artists in the greater Toledo area.
The club is more than 80 years old and has a rich history of promoting outdoor shows.
The first event held in 1941, known as The Outdoor Art jubilee, continued well into the 1990s. The club started a large outdoor show called the Rose Garden Festival in 1996 in downtown Toledo in partnership with the Toledo Department of Forestry. The Rose Garden Arts Festival continued from 1966- 1970.
In 1970, the festival moved from downtown Toledo to the Crosby Park, which evolved into what we now call the Toledo Botanical Garden in 1989.
Admission is free to showcase local artists as a way to promote the arts to a wider audience in the greater Toledo area.
Although registration is currently closed at this time for artists to enter the festival on zapplica tion.org, information can be found under the event name, “Toledo Festival of the Arts,” with the location Toledo Ohio on the website.
The juried entry fee for the festival is typically $35 and will exhibit artists of any medium.
