Your monthly guide to Healthy Living
Thank you for picking up the September issue of Healthy Living News. This month is Library Card Sign Up Month and highlights the benefits of having a library card, including access to books and other resources. It is back-to-school time and a library card is a free resource that can help students succeed. A library card is for all ages, from babies to adults. Toledo Lucas County communications strategist Stephanie Elton shares all that the library offers, including events and programming offered for families to be involved in. For more information on how you can sign up and where to look for programming, see page 4.
September is also recognized as Better Breakfast Month. Contributing writer Laurie Syring offers some direction, on page 6, for eating a better breakfast. The term “breakfast” originated back in WWI when the U.S. government encouraged citizens to eat a better breakfast to “break the fast.” Speaking of food, it is football season and with football comes snacking and eating out.
Lines + Angles offers healthy recipes among other things. Check out page 7 for the Lines + Angles barbequed chicken with grilled corn and tomatoes recipe for a delicious game day meal.
September is a good reminder to slow down. Contributing writer, Sister Karen Zielinski, page 7, reminds readers that slow-cooking recipes are like other things that take time in life.
On page 13, Becca Roberts shares what long distance reveals– giving yourself permission to slow down and figure out rules that are not beneficial anymore.
Also in this issue, Ashley Edwards, director of communications for Chi Living Communities, page 11, advocates for proactive care to ensure a loved one stays connected, cherished and well-supported.
Theological Thoughts, page 10, encourages readers to seek out what to ask God for.
This issue also includes recipes, sports and more.
We hope you and your family enjoy the month of September, and slow down as the fall routine begins. And remember, whenever you choose one of our advertisers’ products or services, be sure to let them know you “saw it in Healthy Living News.”
