Gardens of St. Francis to host September 25 fundraiser in support of Walk to End Alzheimer’s

ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, FROM 6:00 TO 8:00 P.M., The Gardens of St. Francis, a member of CHI Living Communities located at 930 S. Wynn Road in Oregon, Ohio, will host a fun, family friendly fundraiser in support of this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which will be held on Saturday, October 19 at Glass City Metropark.

Participants in the rain-or-shine September 25 fundraising event at The Gardens of St. Francis will be invited to walk the beautiful, idyllic campus grounds (friendly pets welcome); enter a 50/50 raffle; purchase a delicious box dinner after the walk; and join the fight against this devastating neurological disorder that affects over six million Americans and has drafted over 11 million family members and friends into the ranks of unpaid caregivers.

“Our goal for this event is to bring together people from all over the local community for a great cause and to raise at least $1,000 to support the Alzheimer’s Association of Northwest Ohio and the vital work they do. Participants will also have the opportunity to see and experience firsthand what sets us apart as a community and campus,” says Kristy Wortketter, Director of Marketing for The Gardens of St. Francis.

The September 25 fundraiser in support of The Alzheimer’s Association reflects The Gardens of St. Francis’ powerful commitment to providing the highest quality memory care.

In fact, the facility boasts a stateof- the-art memory care campus featuring 19 private suites (all of which are licensed for dual occupancy to accommodate married couples) in a secured area staffed 24 hours a day; a dedicated activity director and programming to stimulate and foster interaction; multiple common areas including three living rooms, a music area, and a library; a Director of Mission Integration and chaplain who provide spiritual care for residents and their families; chef-prepared meals enjoyed family style in an exclusive dining area; and a secure outdoor garden area.

“Perhaps most important, our memory-care campus has a dedicated, compassionate activities team with extensive dementia-specific training. The team members work together to create an individualized life-enrichment program for each resident, incorporating elements of the resident’s background and unique interests. Memory-care residents’ families can rest assured that their loved ones are in a safe, secure, homelike environment that nurtures them in body, mind, and spirit,” Wortketter states.

In addition to taking part in the September 25 fundraiser at The Gardens of St. Francis, members of the public have the opportunity to sponsor the Gardens of St. Francis’ Walk to End Alzheimer’s team. Sponsorship options include Steps Sponsor for $50, Strides Sponsor for $100, or a general donation in the amount of your choosing. All funds raised will benefit the Gardens of St. Francis team.
