PATIENTS AND THEIR LOVED ONES, whether still at home, already in a skilled nursing facility, or even in the hospital, often face the difficult decision of where and when to accept routine care assistance or, in other words, long-term care.
Some of the objections we are faced with include, I don’t want Mom to lose her independence, or I fear Dad will just give up if he makes the move.
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. There are many valid concerns that should be considered when making the decision to become a full-time resident at an extended-care facility.
First, despite contrary belief, longterm care does not mean forever. You and your loved one, with the approval of your attending physician, can always choose to discharge from the facility. We consider it a huge success to gain enough strength and secure the necessary community support to safely return to wherever you call home.
Secondly, our care center offers around-the-clock care and we are always available to assist. Access to 24/7 care is essential to our residents’ wellbeing. Our facility provides licensed nurses, state tested nursing assistants, hospitality aides, credentialed dieticians, social workers, physicians, and activities professionals. We are here when your families are at work, when your friends cannot visit because they are ill, when your dentist retires and you need to find a new one that takes your insurance. We are here to serve you when you aren’t feeling well, when you can’t make it to the store, when your walker has a loose wheel, and when the only thing that sounds good is a warm cup of tea. We care for you.
At Franciscan Care Center, we understand the sacred trust you place in us to care for your loved one, and no one understands that better than our Director of Marketing, Sarah Wansitler. Three years ago, Sarah’s family made the difficult decision to move their grandmother into a CHI Living Communities campus in Sandusky, Ohio. “Throughout my grandmother’s stay, she has been treated as a part of their family, she has regained enough nutrition to maintain a healthy weight, she has made friends, and she has settled in to a life she never imagined she’d have. I cannot express the amount of gratitude that I have for the staff.
“I am so proud to have such a meaningful career with CHI Living Communities as well. Every day, I get to do what I love best, which is helping others explore all of their healthcare options,” Sarah explained.
At Franciscan Care Center, we offer exceptional healthcare in a safe and comfortable living environment. Our dedicated team members take the time to get to know each guest and develop a routine that best fits their needs. We encourage maximum independence when it comes to decision making and activities of daily living. Our guests play an active role in all aspects of their standards of living.
