Thanksgiving tradition strengthens our community

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO GIVE THANKS and celebrate the holiday. Spending quality time with family, making the most of an active lifestyle, burning off extra calories so you can enjoy another piece of pie, sharing in community support of the less fortunate, and making a tangible contribution directly to a local non-profit will all be options again on Thanksgiving Day in Downtown Toledo, as part of Dave’s Turkey Chase.

Thanks, giving, and celebration, for all

The annual Dave’s Turkey Chase 5K & 1 Mile Walk, presented by First Solar, will be held on Thanksgiving morning, with Cherry Street Mission Ministries as the primary beneficiary. Starting at host and media sponsor WTOL 11 studios in downtown Toledo, youngsters can participate in a special kids run for free by the waterfront, ahead of the main event. Others of all ages will then take to the streets for a 3.1-mile run/walk or 1-mile walk. There will also be a virtual option so anyone can participate from anywhere they may be that day— something for all. To commemorate the day, each in-person participant will receive a shirt, mug, seasonal refreshments, as well as a fresh, homemade Schmucker’s Restaurant pie as an award when placing in their age group after crossing the 5k finish line. Virtual participants will have the option to receive their shirt by mail. Continue the tradition of giving today by registering online at davesturkeychase.com. Making the barrier to entry even more economical for families and groups, an automatic discount will apply when signing up four or more individuals during the same checkout process. An online option to donate directly to Cherry Street Mission Ministries is also available.

A promise, to all

Cherry Street Mission Ministries envisions its full community, rooted in God’s Grace, where all people are empowered with wholeness of spirit, soul, and body and able to live and participate as contributing members of society. Cherry Street Mission Ministries is committed to delivering solutions that will reverse the cycle of poverty for people in our communities, and Dave’s Turkey Chase helps fulfill that mission each Thanksgiving.
